I talked about how this is not the right time to cut the military in any way, shape or form on Wednesday's show.  Why?  Because we have a number of adversaries flexing their muscles right now, and literally hours after I said that on the show, Russia ordered 150,000 troops to test their combat readiness in what many see as a show of force or possible prelude to intervention in Ukraine.  In response, Secretary of State John Kerry warned Russia it would be a "grave mistake" to intervene militarily in Ukraine where people are split between siding with Russia or the West.

So this is another example of not knowing when tensions will rise, where they will rise and who it will entail.  This is the reason we cannot cut our forces.  With big boys like Russia and China feeling "froggy" and North Korea, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Afghanistan and others making noise, it simply doesn't make sense to cut now.  As more than one veteran told me "history repeats itself."  All you have to do is look at what we did after World War II and the effects it had on our soldiers in the Korean confict.  Many soldiers died due to old equipment, lack of forces and a passive approach to conflict.  Let's not let history repeat itself again.
