Video Shows Woman Abandoning Toddler on Texas Doorstep, Deputies Say

Child abandoned

A security video that appeared to show a woman abandoning a 2-year-old toddler on the front stoop of a Texas home Wednesday evening, may end up being a case of bad navigation.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office posted video to their Facebook Thursday morning of a woman appearing to run off after leaving a 2-year-old toddler on the doorstep of a home in Spring, Texas. In a release, deputies said the woman who lived at the home called 911 after hearing a knock on the door and discovering the black male child there with no adult.

According to Click2Houston, the father of the toddler seen left behind on the doorstep was actually being dropped off by a friend who accidentally left him at the wrong house. He identified the child as 2-year-old Royal Prince Simmons.

The Ring video shows the woman arriving in a white car, run to the front door while holding the 2-year-old boy, and lifting him up by one arm to bring him on the porch. She then rings the doorbell several times, knocks on the door, and then quickly runs off, leaving the boy and the two bags she was carrying behind. The entire scene takes less than thirty seconds.

The man who says he's the father of the 2-year-old told KPRC2's Taisha Walker that the woman seen in the video was a friend of his who accidentally dropped his son off at his neighbor's home.

Child Protective Services has taken custody of the boy who doesn't appear to be injured and is in good health, deputies said.

Authorities are urging anyone who has any information regarding the child or female suspect, to please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office 936-760-5800 or contact Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP (7867) and refer to case# 18A299244.
