WLU Men's and Women's Tennis Regionally Ranked

TEMPE, Ariz. – The West Liberty University men's and women's tennis teams have each cracked the regional rankings in the latest set of NCAA Division II rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Coach Heather Gallagher's Lady Hilltoppers checked in at No. 5 in the Atlantic Region women's rankings while Coach Ron Hulewicz's WLU men are No. 6 on the men's Atlantic Region list.

Charleston leads the women's rankings with Indiana (Pa.), Slippery Rock, West Virginia State and the Hilltoppers rounding out the top five. Mercyhurst is sixth, followed by Salem, Bluefield State, Fairmont State and West Chester (Pa.). Interestingly, the Hilltopper women have regular season matches scheduled against the four teams currently ahead of them in the regional rankings.

On the men's side, perennial power Bluefield State once again occupies the No. 1 position with Charleston and Fairmont State at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Edinboro, Mercyhurst and the Black and Gold follow with Salem, Millersville, Bloomsburg and West Virginia Wesleyan rounding out the Top 10.

Both West Liberty teams will be on the road against an out-of-region foe on Saturday afternoon as they head to Cedarville (Ohio) University for non-conference matches.
