A wild video is going viral on social media showing a fireworks battle between a drone and a robot dog in an empty dirt field. The drone has fireworks strapped to its landing gear, while the robot dog has a fireworks launcher mounted on its back.
The ten-second clip shows the airborne drone exchanging fire with the robot dog on the ground. The drone appears to take several direct hits but manages to keep flying as it tries to flank around the side of the robot dog.
It is unclear where the wild video was filmed or whether the drone and robot were being controlled by a human or autonomously.
As users joked on Reddit that this could be the future of warfare, the U.S. Army has already been working on equipping robot dogs with guns. According to a report last year from Interesting Engineering, the military recently tested adding an M4A1 carbine to a Ghost Robotics-made Vision 60 Quadruped Unmanned Ground Vehicle.
