A tragic accident claimed the life of 13-year-old Joeylin Kenley McDonald, who fell approximately 25 feet through the attic floor at the Rocky Mountain SER after-school program in Pueblo, Colorado. The incident occurred on Friday evening (April 18) around 7 p.m., as reported by the Pueblo Police Department. Joeylin was found deceased at the scene when officers arrived.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall and have not yet determined whether it was a criminal incident or an accident. Joeylin was with a group of other children at the time of the accident, but details about what led to her fall remain unclear.
Joeylin's aunt, Caitlyn Valdez, described her as "the brightest soul in the world," highlighting her intelligence, determination, and caring nature. "Mourning the loss of such a beautiful soul will be a daily task for the rest of our lives," Valdez stated.
The Rocky Mountain SER program expressed their sorrow in a statement, calling Joeylin's death a "tragic loss within our community." They asked for the community's support and prayers for Joeylin's family and friends during this difficult time.
Joeylin is survived by her parents, five siblings, and extended family. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
