A lot of us stick to the same Christmas customs year after year and it turns out, some folks are ready for a change. A new survey finds that 31% of Americans are tired of traditions and would like to shake up the holiday with festive new alternatives.
According to the poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults who celebrate the winter holidays:
- A lot of people want to switch up the holiday meal, gladly trading the traditional turkey for pizza (44%), or tacos (38%), or a juicy burger (31%), or even Chinese takeout (34%).
- Beyond the food, 62% feel there’s an obligation to follow holiday traditions and 49% agree people are generally nervous about boycotting them.
- But 69% admit they’re interested in creating unique new festive customs for their family and friends, and 22% think their loved ones would be “excited” to swap their usual holiday routine for new alternatives.
- Nearly half (47%) admit they’d rather spend all of Christmas Day in their jammies than get dressed up.
