An Ohio couple was recently saved from losing $17,000, thanks to the quick actions of a Chase Bank manager in Westlake. The couple went to the bank to withdraw the money, believing they needed it to resolve a legal issue. The manager noticed warning signs and immediately alerted local authorities.

After speaking with the police, the couple realized they were being targeted in a scam and didn’t complete the withdrawal.

Captain Jerry Vogel of the Westlake Police Department confirms that the manager’s intervention stopped the fraud in time, explaining, “The customers did figure out they were going to be scammed.”

Thanks to the vigilance of the bank staff, no money was lost, and the couple was spared a devastating financial mistake.

Local authorities are taking the opportunity to remind the public to be cautious of any request involving gift cards or cryptocurrency machines.
