Earlier this week in Clovis, California, Sergio Delgado Jimenez and his younger brother were driving when they noticed heavy smoke coming from a nearby house. They initially thought it might be a barbecue, but soon realized the house was on fire. Jimenez quickly approached the home and started pounding on the door to alert anyone inside.
Realizing there were people still in the house, the brothers kicked down the door and helped both residents escape safely. Jimenez then ran to the side of the house, found water hoses, and attempted to fight the flames while waiting for firefighters to arrive. He says the people inside hadn’t even realized their shed was on fire.
Jimenez stayed with the residents afterward, offering them water and chairs while making sure they were safe. He describes his actions as instinctual, saying he just wanted to help and keep anyone from getting hurt.
