On Monday morning in Deltona, Florida, a 14-year-old boy was struck by a car while riding his e-bike to school for the first day of classes. Deputies say that a vehicle was making a low-speed turn through the crosswalk when they hit the teen, dragging him about 15 feet before coming to a stop with him trapped underneath.
Witnesses, including a passing tow truck driver, rushed to help and worked together to lift the vehicle off the teen. The boy was wearing a helmet and was conscious when emergency responders arrived. He was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando for treatment.
Authorities praised the quick action of bystanders, which helped free the boy before emergency services arrived on the scene. The teen was later reported to be in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
